“Eya-galls Crown” is proving very popular in schools.
Already the author, Ann Jefferyes, has presented her book in a number of schools. The children have been pleased to meet a real live author, and keen to learn more about how a book is written. Ann has been able to discuss with the children different types of writing, and how the children can use their imaginations to develop their own ideas.
“Eya-gall’s Crown” is about two children who find themselves caught up in adventure involving a number of different birds - Eagles, Owls, a Woodpecker, a Magpie, and two Albatrosses, - and the children have really enjoyed discussing what they know about birds and their different characteristics.
The session has ended with Ann reading a chapter from the book. The teachers have also valued these visits as they touch on so many aspects of the national curriculum, and link in with what the children are doing it their own creative writing.
If schools are interested, Ann is willing to travel reasonable distances from her home near Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire. In the first instance an approach can be made by emailing
